Mar 14, 2014

Scot L. Beckenbaugh, Acting Director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) today commended representatives of the Professional Referee Organization (PRO) and the Professional Soccer Referees Association (PSRA) for their cooperation and progress in collective bargaining negotiations being conducted under FMCS auspices.

Acting Director Beckenbaugh and FMCS Director of Mediation Services for the Northeast Sub-Region, Jack Sweeney conducted several lengthy mediation sessions with representatives from PRO and the PSRA. While differences remain, additional mediation sessions have been scheduled.  The dates, times, and location of the negotiations will remain confidential, Beckenbaugh said.

Due to the sensitivity of these discussions, the FMCS will have no further comment at this time and has asked the parties to refrain from commenting to the news media on the substance of negotiations.

The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, created in 1947, is an independent U.S. government agency whose mission is to preserve and promote labor-management peace and cooperation.
