Geiger and Hurd assigned to Club World Cup Final

PRO referee Mark Geiger and AR Sean Hurd have been selected for the FIFA Club World Cup Final on Saturday December 21. 

Geiger, from the US, has been assigned as the 4th official, while compatriot Hurd will be the 5th official for the match between Bayern München and Raja Casablanca in the Marrakech Stadium. Kick-off is 2:30pm eastern time. 

Alongside Canadian Joe Fletcher, the trio officiated the fifth-place Play-Off match on Wednesday December 18, when Club de Futbol Monterrey beat Al Ahly Sporting Club 5-1. 

The North American crew were one five teams selected in November for the champion of champions competition being staged in Morocco this from December 11-21. 

Geiger was the center official in the MLS on 15 occasions during 2013. Hurd was assigned AR duties 14 times, with Fletcher taking the flag for 15 matches. 

The FIFA Club World Cup is a knockout tournament contested each season by seven teams. The winners of that year’s AFC Champions League, CAF Champions League, CONCACAF Champions League, Copa Libertadores, OFC Champions League and UEFA Champions League, alongside the host country’s national champions, compete for the trophy.
